Relaxing During Games

The ability to cope with pressure during a match can provide you with a competitive edge.
Many players can experience negative thoughts, worry, and nervousness prior or during matches.
The players who cope better in these situations in many cases perform to a higher level than the players who don’t.
When under pressure its good practice to try and relax.
  • Taking slow, smooth, controlled deep breaths and attempting to lower your heart rate before taking a free-kick or penalty-kick
  • Shrugging your shoulders and attempting to rid your body of tension and excess energy before coming on as a substitute in an important game
  • Taking a moment to relax during a break in play if you are feeling tense or stressed
  • Regain your thoughts
  • Regain concentration and refocus
Players play at their best when they are relaxed and confident

Enjoy and Focus
